Visit to the University of Prishtina, Kosovo

Dr. Miklós Heltai, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Szent István University, visited Kosovo at the invitation of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary, University of Prishtina, between 23 and 30 of October. The primary objective of the invitation was to develop cooperation in designing and implementing a future nature conservation monitoring system for large game species and large predators in Kosovo. Lectures given to interested colleagues, students and ministry officials also covered this topic (Introduction to wildlife monitoring; Monitoring of carnivore species in Hungary; Introduction of certain monitoring methodologies).

During the time of the visit, a cooperation agreement was signed between Szent István University and Prishtina University. In connection with the agreement, Miklós Heltai negotiated future cooperation with Prof. Dr. Hysen Bytyci, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Issues, Prof. Dr. Skender Kaciu, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Dr. Mentor Thaqi, Deputy Dean of Education.

An interesting scene of the week was meeting SZIE students in Kosovo. We currently have 15 Kosovar students at our university, and we are confident that this number will only increase further in the master's and doctoral programs.
