Since 2008 our sports school has been operating as a basis for national recruitment especially in short track skating, basketball and wrestling and also serves as a basis for school based sport activities as well as competitions.

HISTORIC REVIEW OF TRAININGS

Teacher training has been a tradition at the Faculty since 1917. The legal predecessor institute practised intermediate level training until 1959, at an advanced level between 1959 and 1975, and the title of ‘teacher training college' was awarded to the school in 1975.

By the end of the 1980s, due to alternative pedagogic intentions, the School began a 4 year value-transferring and skill-developing teacher training program with dual specializations of teacher-librarian, teacher-cultural organizer, and then teacher-social educator. After a successful pilot phase, they started to operate as individual majors in the fields of:

  • pedagogy

  • andragogy

  • IT-librarian

  • social educator

All of these are the undying merits of the professional community of the Faculty of that time.

NATIONAL AND REGIONAL DEMAND FOR GRADUATES

Demand for teachers varies according to demographic changes. Due to the comprehensiveness of the Faculty, its graduates have made many accomplishments. Completing their qualification with special in-service field training they can easily succeed in finding jobs as successful experts in the different areas of education, public administration, in child welfare and social institutes as well as in the fields of informatics and culture. This sphere of employment is further reinforced by the three other fields of training, which are the social acceptance of andragogy, social welfare and informatics. The Faculty can cater to the needs of the newly formed regional associations by providing them well-trained experts who are familiar with the challenges they face.

We operate educational and reactivation programs answering the needs of our region including reactivating training programs that can help to get different ethnic groups involved in higher education. The special needs of our region originate from the unique geographic situation of the Faculty being attached to the capital, Pest, Jász-Nagykún, Heves and Nógrád counties through Szent István University. In the fields of training and developing human resources our academic programs serve the credo of Szent István University to fulfil its aims.

MAIN AREAS OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
